Why focus on term limits?

In business, I was rejected for positions I really wanted. I set personal goals. I didn’t achieve them. At age 36 I was told I would never be promoted again. I tried to go out and buy a small business. I didn’t find a good fit. Then I decided to like my job and focus on helping others until retirement. It was a freeing moment. I was able to strip away ambition and politics, and always do what I thought was right to do for the business and the people who depended on my job for theirs. People who are constantly campaigning are like me in my 20s and 30s. Trying to help myself vs. focusing on others.
Watching Strom Thurmond and Joe Biden stay in office too long was painful. It was clear their name was their only asset at the end. Good men both. Neither were willing to let go of power. I have noticed that those who announce they are not running again are able to stand for what they think is right vs. staying in good standing with party bosses. I dream of a time when elected officials do what they believe is right, and don’t worry about re-election. Anyone who votes for Tim Scott, or Lindsay Graham, does not believe in term limits. I will cast my votes with an eye toward term limits. If you have been in a long time, you won’t get my vote. I have great respect for Trey Gowdy and Bob Inglis who were elected in SC. Both self imposed term limits.
